WHAT IS LOST?
Social media has made a difference in my life but still am considering what is lost in order to gain....is there a trade off in some way. Could it be possible that the more technically advanced we become and the more people we are able to reach in business and in the social arena could in fact actually mean we are losing something? Consider for a moment if you will the laws of nature; the law of balance, for every new adventure we trade something that we may not even be aware of until a later time or maybe we are aware but are willing to trade, are you trading something by using social media as a way of communication? Maybe the more we connect through social media avenues and the like, the less we are connected on a deeper emotional level. Are we breeding mentally / technically connected people who are emotionally disconnected? Do we agree that there is something lost in translation in for example emails and text messages; have you ever been misunderstood in this form of communication, I know I have? We may become desensitized to human emotion because we are not using all our senses with this technology like we would in person. I do believe that Social Media has risen to a level that only a few years ago would have been unimaginable, this far reaching Media has not allowed people to catch up to what is Socially acceptable etiquette in this form; although in saying that, there is the old saying that could really be applied here and is quite simple. 'Don't do/say to others that you would not like being done/said about you'

Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteVery interesting and thought provoking post!
I think that "all things in moderation" would probably be a good plan for social media, whether it be for business or personal purposes.
You're right, things can often get misread in an email and when written in haste and anger, an email can be cutting to the bone.

Thank you, and everything in moderation for life in general, no reason to exclude chocolate from a healthy diet :)
